Facts

I used to coach color guard (prior to my PhD program when I had free time :p) and I spent one summer touring the US with a drum corps performing in stadiums all over.

I spent a month in Australia after my bachelors degree as an International Student Volunteer.

I took a cycle endorsement class at Harley Davidson with my husband and my mom and I own a motorcycle (just a little Suzuki 250).

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.  -Charles Swindoll

Profile

My goal as a psychologist is to provide my clients with a safe space where they can truly be who they are without judgment.  I strongly believe that everyone deserves to feel safe and have support.  Serving diverse populations is incredibly important to me and I enjoy providing that safe space to process many of the “isms” our society imposes.  I am an LGBTQ ally and have experience walking with others at different stages of their journey.  My door is open to anyone regardless of age, gender, sexuality, spirituality, religion, race, or ethnicity.

In addition to working with children and adolescents, I also greatly enjoy working with adults.  I am a huge self-care advocate and believe that the best way a parent can influence their child is by being a role model for self-care which could mean a parent also seeking therapy for extra support.  Regardless of being a parent though, seeking extra support and processing the many challenges life presents is what I am here for.  Perhaps you are feeling more stressed out than usual, going through a major life change, or have been struggling for years and finally decided to seek help.  Whatever your reason, together we can come up with a plan to help you achieve your goals and live the life you have envisioned.

Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family, especially my nieces and nephews.  I enjoy being outdoors doing anything from kayaking, to biking, hiking, camping, swimming, white water rafting, or just enjoying the sunshine.  Indoors I tend to spend time in the gym or at a yoga studio.  I also love animals and have a very large cat named Ike (he is 16 pounds).

As a way to become a more holistic practitioner I recently took a 200 hour yoga teacher training certification course so that I can begin to use movement with clients in therapeutic ways.  I believe that our physical health and mental health are closely connected and am passionate about helping people reach goals physically, mentally, and emotionally.
