Meet the Team
Jennifer Hayden
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Education:
BA Psychology from Michigan State University; MSW (Master’s in Social Work) from Grand Valley State University
Professional Experience:
I believe that relationships are at the core of any effective therapy. It is important to me that the children and families I work with feel heard and respected. I am flexible in my approaches and how I deliver therapy. This allows me to be able to focus on the strengths of the child and family. I utilize interests, abilities, and passions to provide services that are engaging, comfortable, and impactful. I believe that children, adolescents and young adults thrive best in therapy when they are allowed to express themselves in the way that is most natural for them.
I utilize a blend of traditional talk therapy, art and play therapy techniques, CBT and other active and creative interventions. I also am very supportive of parents’ involvement in treatment to support the best outcome for the child as well as supporting parents in the hard work of parenting.
Personal Blurb:
As a parent of two Autistic children, I understand the joys and challenges of supporting a child with behavioral or emotional challenges. I am passionate about supporting children and their families in their journey towards health, happiness and success. Personally, I enjoy spending time with family and pets, reading, travel, time at the beach and enjoying everything our beautiful state has to offer.
Specializations: I have over 20 years experience in various social work roles including Community Mental Health, home visiting supporting parents of young children, School Social Work, and private practice therapy.
