Meet the Team

Krystal Thorgaard

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Education:
Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Los Angeles in 2003; Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2008; Graduate Certificate in ABA from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2016

Professional Experience:
After getting my masters degree, I worked as a social worker at a children’s residential facility. In 2012, I began working as a behavioral therapist for the Minnesota Autism Center. In 2014, I began working for Developmental Enhancement as a behavior technician. In September of 2016, I became a BCBA and transitioned to working in our Holland office. Since then, I have worked with clients from ages 2-11 with a variety of support needs. I am particularly interested in the development of language, whether that is using vocal language, sign language, or alternative communication methods. I love working in ABA because I love to see the amazing progress our clients make while playing and having fun!

Personal Blurb:
I met my husband in 2011 while living in Austin, Texas. We moved to Grand Rapids in 2014, we got married in 2021, and then our son was born in 2023. I enjoy crafting, reading, and playing board and video games when I have the time. However, I always make time to do The New York Times crossword puzzle! I have also been practicing martial arts since I was 10, most recently studying Shorin-Ryu Karate.
